School Social Worker - Elementary and Special Purpose Pre-K Full Time Kennebunk Elementary School, Kennebunk, ME, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1034 Apply Salary Range: $57,392.00 To $109,152.00 Annually Position Overview: As a School Social Worker, you will assist in the development of students’ personal, emotional, and social growth to enable them to benefit from their educational program. Effective communication skills are required to work collaboratively with related service providers, coordinate with general education staff, and work with families and outside agencies. This position supports students Pre-K to Grade 2, as well as students in the Special Purpose (Special Education) Pre-K program. Reports To: Special Services Director, Special Purpose Pre-K Coordinator, and Building Principal Location: Kennebunk Elementary School Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work Valid State of Maine Social Worker license Successful experience working with school-age children Experience working with students with special needs Experience collaborating with outside agencies Strong communication, organizational, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team Responsibilities Student-Centered Provide individual and/or group services for identified students Consult with guidance counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, principals, classroom teachers, and special education teams as needed Assist in student crisis management and coordinate follow-up supports with staff, families, and students Communication Meet and consult with parents/guardians regarding student-related issues Provide support services and referral resources for special education students and their families Complete family/social histories as determined by the special education team Participate in school and district crisis intervention response teams Organized Approach Assist in the development and monitoring of positive behavior support plans Support families in developing and monitoring home/school behavior transition plans Operational Excellence Serve as liaison between school, families, and community service providers (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, counselors) Participate as a member of special education teams, including attendance at meetings and IEP participation Support development of annual goals, objectives, and quarterly progress updates for social work services Assist with re-entry planning following suspension, hospitalization, or out-of-district placement Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services Key Competencies Resourceful: Uses available resources to maximize student support Goals-based: Sets meaningful, measurable goals and tracks progress Analytical thinking: Uses data to inform intervention and decision-making Outcomes-focused: Maintains urgency and accountability for student outcomes Motivator: Encourages students, staff, and families toward positive growth Team player: Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams Effective communicator: Communicates clearly and professionally Relationship-oriented: Builds trust and strong relationships with students and families Reasonable Accommodations: RSU 21 will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or applicable law. Terms of Employment: Regular school year for professional staff. Salary determined by applicable collective bargaining agreement and Board policy. Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the building administrator or team leader in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support services personnel.
