Responsibilities of a Cook / Chef:

• Preparing delicious and nutritious meals to residents, visitors and team members
• Assist in food preparation and planning for special meals, parties and events
• Help ensure and deliver a positive dining experience

Qualifications of a Cook:

• Obtain and maintain a valid Serv Safe/Food Handler's permit
• Prefer six (6) month's experience in food preparation and in safe handling of food and kitchen equipment
• Ability to make independent decisions and work without supervision
• Ability to lead department in the absence of Culinary Services Director
• Dedication to and passion to serve seniors with excellent customer service skills
• Positive attitude, the flexibility to perform various duties in service to the residents and the ability to work in a team environment are keys to success
• Previous experience working with seniors preferred
• Ability to make choices, decisions, and act in the resident’s best interest
• Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding
• Competent in organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
