Shop Assistant

Position Summary
The Shop Assistant is responsible for supporting the overall cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the shop. This position assists with general shop upkeep, basic operational support, and truck cleaning activities to help maintain a safe and productive work environment. The Shop Assistant plays an important role in ensuring the shop remains orderly, well-stocked, and aligned with company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop floors, work areas, and designated common spaces
Sweep floors and remove trash, debris, and other waste materials from the shop
Collect, transport, and properly dispose of waste in accordance with company procedures
Wash and detail company trucks, including interior and exterior cleaning
Assist with assembling mudflaps and performing other basic shop support tasks
Stock, organize, and maintain parts, tools, and supplies in assigned areas
Help ensure the shop remains clean, safe, and operational at all times
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to perform physically demanding work in a shop environment
Ability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
Basic mechanical aptitude is preferred, but not required

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, janitorial, automotive, detailing, or general labor environment is preferred, but not required
Entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the workday
Ability to lift and move materials and equipment consistent with the demands of the position
Ability to work in a physically active environment that may include exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and varying temperatures

Work Environment
This position works primarily in a shop environment and may be exposed to moving equipment, vehicle traffic, cleaning products, tools, and other typical shop conditions. The employee is expected to follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate protective equipment when required.
