Job Title: Superintendent
Department: Operations
Reports To: General Superintendent
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Field Management
- Supervise all field operations to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to anticipate and mitigate potential field conflicts.
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, safety compliance, and quality of workmanship.
- Lead onsite meetings to align all trades and stakeholders on project milestones and updates.
Safety & Quality Control
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards at all times.
- Conduct site-specific safety orientations and regular toolbox talks.
- Identify and address potential hazards or quality issues before they affect project outcomes.
- Ensure all work is executed in accordance with design documents, specifications, and code requirements.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules in collaboration with Project Managers.
- Track progress against milestones and proactively adjust sequencing as needed.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and approvals with owners, architects, and local authorities.
- Oversee delivery schedules and material logistics to maintain workflow efficiency.
Leadership & Communication
- Serve as the primary onsite representative of the company, maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Provide clear direction and mentorship to field staff, foremen, and subcontractor teams.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to forecast manpower, schedule adjustments, and resource needs.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, site logs, and photographic documentation of progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
- 5–10 years of experience as a Superintendent within commercial construction.
- Proven ability to manage projects ranging from ground-up builds to complex tenant improvements.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
- Proficiency with project management and field software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
