Key Responsibilities (By Specialty)
- Emergency Department (ED): Provide rapid triage, stabilization, and critical care interventions for high-acuity patients in fast-paced trauma centers.
- Labor and Delivery (L&D): Monitor laboring patients, assist physicians during deliveries, manage high-risk antepartum/postpartum care, and provide family-centered newborn care.
- Hospice & Palliative Care: Deliver compassionate, comfort-focused end-of-life care, manage symptom control, and offer emotional and clinical support to patients and their families.
- Telemetry: Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry strips, administer vasoactive medications, and promptly respond to acute changes in patient status.
- Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg): Manage comprehensive bedside care for adult patients recovering from surgery or managing acute medical illnesses, focusing on safe medication administration and discharge planning.
- Wound Care: Assess, stage, and treat complex wounds, pressure ulcers, and surgical incisions; implement evidence-based prevention and wound management protocols across units.
- Nurse Educator: Design, coordinate, and deliver clinical orientation, ongoing staff education, in-services, and competency assessments aligned with hospital quality and safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York and/or New Jersey (depending on placement)
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN required; BSN strongly preferred).
- Certifications (General):
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Specialty-specific certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, CWOCN) required based on the assigned department (if applicable)
- Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of recent clinical experience within the relevant specialty (acute care hospital setting preferred).
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, exceptional bedside manner, proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic), and the ability to thrive in demanding, high-standard healthcare environments.
