RSB Property Management is seeking an experienced Property Management Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This is primarily an in-office position, with the potential for a hybrid schedule for the right candidate. We're seeking someone with extensive AppFolio experience and a strong understanding of property management accounting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple properties while ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with ownership and our CPA to maintain the financial health of our portfolio.
RSB Property Management is a locally owned property management company serving the Greater Baton Rouge area. We specialize in the management of single-family homes, multi-family communities, and affordable housing properties. Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bank and trust account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and maintaining vendor records.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Reconcile owner statements and property financials.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Work directly with our CPA to ensure tax compliance and accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor the general ledger and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Review tenant ledgers and owner balances for accounting accuracy.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis as needed.
- Ensure compliance with property management accounting standards and company procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with AppFolio is required.
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience in property management is required.
- Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties and affordable housing programs is preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with CPAs during tax preparation and year-end close.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial information.
