Role Description The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day moving, warehousing, and freight operations to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time service. This full-time, on-site role based in Mobile, AL includes scheduling and dispatching crews and trucks, coordinating warehouse activities, and managing inventory and storage processes. The Operations Manager will monitor workflow, optimize routing and resource allocation, and ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations. Responsibilities include supervising and coaching team members, resolving operational issues, responding to customer inquiries or escalations, and maintaining clear communication between office staff, drivers, and warehouse personnel. The role also involves tracking performance metrics, managing vendor relationships, supporting budgeting and cost control, and identifying process improvements to enhance service quality and profitability.
Qualifications
- Experience in operations management, logistics, or transportation, preferably in moving, warehousing, or freight services.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise, coach, and schedule frontline staff effectively.
- Proficiency in planning, organizing, and coordinating daily operations, including routing, dispatch, and warehouse workflows.
- Solid customer service and communication skills to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain professional relationships.
- Knowledge of safety standards, DOT or transportation regulations, and best practices for handling and storing goods.
- Comfort with basic office and logistics software (e.g., spreadsheets, scheduling tools, dispatch or warehouse systems).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work on-site in Mobile, AL, with flexibility to support peak periods, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in business, logistics, or operations are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record; experience with commercial vehicles or CDL is an advantage.
