We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Officer (SSHO) to support military construction projects in Norfolk, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with experience in commercial construction, federal projects, NAVFAC, USACE, DoD construction, EM 385-1-1 compliance, and OSHA regulations.

Position Summary

The SSHO serves as the onsite safety leader and is responsible for implementing and enforcing project safety programs in accordance with:

• EM 385-1-1


• OSHA standards


• Accident Prevention Plans (APP)


• Contract requirements


• RQC Safety Management System

This role works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and field personnel to maintain a safe, compliant, and productive jobsite.

This is a full-time, onsite position. Travel or relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates outside the area.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 annually (DOE)

Qualifications

• 5 years of commercial construction experience


• 5 years of construction safety experience at the jobsite level


• Experience with NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, or federal construction projects preferred


• Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations


• Competent Person training and/or experience in fall protection, excavation/trenching, confined spaces, electrical safety, scaffolding, and PPE


• Documented safety training averaging 24 hours annually over the past 5 years


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office


• Experience with RMS, QCS, or Viewpoint preferred

Required Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour (within the last 5 years)


• CPR Certification


• First Aid Certification
