What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE BUS ATTENDANT position at RPSB Transportation?
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MEETING WITH TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION FOR YOUR SPECIFIC DAILY JOB DUTIES.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- As set forth in Rapides Parish Standards
- Be at least 20 years of age
REPORTS TO:
Supervisor of Transportation
SUPERVISES:
Students
JOB GOAL:
To assist the bus operator to provide a safe, comfortable ride for handicapped students.
TERM:
Nine (9) months

Bus Attendant Salary Schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be on the school bus at all times during the bus route, except as authorized by the Transportation Department
- Occupy a seat on the bus where student riders can easily be assisted
- Ensure that required protective safety devices are in use and are fastened properly. (In instances when an attendant is not available, this shall be the responsibility of the bus driver)
- Assist such students on and off the bus at school, at designated bus stops, and otherwise when it is necessary for their safe entrance and exit from the bus. (Attendants and drivers are not responsible for bringing students to or from the home bus stop or to loading areas at school)
- Establish proper techniques and follow discipline procedures as established by the Rapides Parish School Board
