Are you an experienced automotive professional who can keep customers informed, technicians productive, and a busy shop moving?
RPM Transmission is hiring a confident, mechanically knowledgeable Service Writer/Service Advisor to take ownership of our front counter and daily service workflow. This is a key leadership position for someone who remains calm under pressure, understands automotive and transmission repairs, and knows how to turn technical findings into clear recommendations customers can understand and approve.
What You’ll Do
- Answer calls, schedule appointments, and check in vehicles.
- Create repair orders, estimates, and customer approvals in AutoLeap.
- Explain and sell automotive and transmission repairs.
- Keep customers updated throughout the repair process.
- Dispatch work and coordinate priorities with technicians.
- Order and track parts, returns, warranties, and vendor issues.
- Monitor vehicles awaiting diagnosis, approval, parts, repair, or pickup.
- Follow up on outstanding estimates and declined work.
- Collect payments and ensure repair orders are complete and accurate.
- Help resolve customer, warranty, insurance, and workflow concerns.
What We’re Looking For
- At least five years of relevant automotive experience.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and transmission repair options.
- Service Writer or Service Advisor experience strongly preferred.
- Comfortable presenting and selling high-value repairs.
- Mechanically inclined and able to understand diagnostic findings.
- Organized, dependable, trainable, and confident making decisions.
- Strong communication, customer-service, and multitasking skills.
- Team-first attitude and ability to work effectively with technicians.
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn AutoLeap.
- Valid driver’s license.
ASE certification is welcome but not required. Proven knowledge, judgment, and experience matter more than a certificate.
Compensation and Schedule
- $60,000–$70,000 per year, based on experience
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
- No regularly scheduled weekends
