Senior Account Payable Specialist

Position Summary (major Areas Of Contribution)

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist in the manufacturing sector is responsible for managing complex accounts payable processes, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role involves handling high-volume transactions, vendor management, and supporting audits, all while contributing to the efficiency of the manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities

• Process and verify invoices related to raw materials, equipment, and other manufacturing expenses.
• Reconcile accounts payable balances in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to resolve discrepancies in purchase orders and invoices.
• Manage vendor relationships, including onboarding, compliance checks, and timely payments.
• Monitor and process multi-currency transactions for international suppliers.
• Prepare and issue 1099 forms and other tax-related documentation.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
• Analyze outstanding payments and implement strategies to optimize cash flow.
• Train and mentor junior accounts payable staff on manufacturing-specific processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including sales tax and VAT requirements.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications / Skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, general bookkeeping, and tax regulations.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle high volumes of transactions and meet tight deadlines.
  
  

Required

Experience (type and amount of experience required):

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  
  

Requirements

• Will spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Is occasionally required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and communicate effectively by talking or hearing.
