General Manager - Liquor Store

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic General Manager to lead and oversee the operations of a busy liquor store. Employee Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall operation, performance, and daily activities of the store.
• Open the store and ensure it is clean, secure, adequately stocked, and ready for customers.
• Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and provide direction to store employees.
• Coordinate staffing coverage for absences, time off, and changing business needs.
• Promote a professional, respectful, and customer-focused work environment.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve escalated customer questions or concerns.
• Monitor sales, customer demand, and store performance and communicate opportunities or concerns to the owner.
• Work directly with distributors and suppliers to maintain vendor relationships, place product orders, identify new product opportunities, and fulfill customer special orders.
• Coordinate end-of-month ordering and inventory planning to maintain appropriate stock levels and maximize available supplier programs, discounts, and promotions.
• Oversee deliveries, receiving, stocking, product rotation, pricing, merchandising, and the timely processing and distributor pickup of authorized product returns.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory counts, discrepancy resolution, and loss-prevention efforts.
• Coordinate in-store tastings, bottle signings, and other promotional events with distributors, suppliers, and company leadership.
• Assist with social media, product promotions, and other marketing efforts designed to increase sales and customer engagement.
• Oversee register operations, cash reconciliation, deposits, and other cash-control procedures.
• Ensure employees accurately record all time worked, receive required breaks and days of rest, and comply with alcohol-sales laws, identification requirements, company policies, and licensing requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and secure store; respond to theft, safety concerns, customer incidents, and emergencies; and perform cashiering, stocking, cleaning, opening, closing, and other store duties as business needs require.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, management, or a related field preferred.

· At least three years of retail experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or management role.

· Experience with store operations, employee supervision, customer service, inventory control, merchandising, and cash handling.

· Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to use point-of-sale, inventory, email, and other basic business systems.

· Ability to work independently, maintain accurate records, and manage competing priorities in a small-store environment.

· Liquor, convenience-store, grocery, or other regulated retail experience preferred but not required.

· Must be dependable and available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and additional hours when required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

· Frequently stands, walks, bends, reaches, stoops, and moves throughout the sales floor, stockroom, cooler, and other store areas.

· Regularly lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, and moves merchandise and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Must be able to safely use step stools or ladders and operate registers, computers, phones, keys, locks, and other store equipment.

· Work is performed primarily indoors in a retail environment, with occasional exposure to coolers, varying temperatures, cleaning products, dust, noise, deliveries, and outdoor conditions.

· May be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours based on business and staffing needs.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
