Job Title: Substitute Teacher's Assistant
This is an on-call substitute position where you may be asked to sub for a specific amount of time (hours, full day, and/or long-term sub assignment).
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide small group and individual instruction under the guidance of a certified teacher.
- Assist teaching personnel in various aspects of their work, including lesson planning and classroom management.
- Operate school equipment such as copiers, video equipment, computers, and recorders.
- Work one-on-one with students in a teacher-monitored classroom setting.
- Monitor and assist students in achieving their individual objectives.
- Ensure student safety and well-being at all times.
- Help students develop self-help skills, vocal skills, and fine and gross motor skills.
- Implement activities and instruction as planned by the teacher.
- Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment through effective discipline techniques.
- Collaborate with other teachers as needed to support student learning.
- Implement behavioral intervention strategies to support students' social and emotional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
- Possess physical ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and perform various physical tasks such as walking, standing, sitting, and bending.
- Demonstrate good vision and eye-hand coordination to successfully perform all duties.
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Associate's degree or 48 semester credits/72 quarter credits from an institution of higher education, or successful completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and experienced in working with children and adults; strong time management skills and initiative.
Clinical Requirements:
- Ability to focus and have clear vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
