Injection Molding Extrusion Technician

Position Overview

The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for machine setup, processing, troubleshooting, mold changes, quality verification, and maintaining efficient production performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production uptime, product quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, start up, and optimize injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform mold changes, tooling adjustments, and machine parameter setup.
• Troubleshoot molding processes, machine issues, and quality defects.
• Monitor cycle times, scrap rates, downtime, and machine efficiency.
• Make processing adjustments to improve productivity and product quality.
• Ensure molds, machines, and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
• Work closely with production supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams.
• Verify first-piece approvals and maintain quality standards throughout production runs.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and basic machine maintenance.
• Document process settings, downtime events, and production performance.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas following GMP and food-safe manufacturing standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and process consistency.
• Train operators on proper machine operation and quality expectations when needed.
• Respond quickly to production issues to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• 2 years of injection molding processing or technician experience preferred.
• Experience with mold setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production documents, and quality standards.
• Understanding of plastics processing principles and molding parameters.
• Forklift and crane experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with automation and auxiliary equipment.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement systems.
• Experience in food-safe or consumer packaged goods manufacturing environments.
