Manufacturing Operator Lead

The Production Lead is responsible for supervising assigned raw materials/mix production department employees; performs administrative tasks and maintains communications associated with the activities of a production shift. Assumes responsibility for the shift’s performance in safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost control; for employee relationships and for effectiveness of communications relevant to shift performance and the attainment of plant goals.

Job Responsibilities

• Observes plant safety rules.
• Checks assigned area and equipment for compliance with safety specifications.
• Required to wear or use the appropriate safety gear while performing designed tasks.
• Participates in 5S initiatives by maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
• Assists in preparation of production area for housekeeping inspections and inventory taking.
• Relays appropriate information to supervisor.
• Passes comments, concerns and relevant information about employees to supervisor.
• Maintains effective lateral communications with others whose work affects that of his shift.
• Reports any grievances or potential conflicts that may affect the overall performance of his shift.
• Completes and accurately documents daily mix report.
• Records wax tank measurements and temperatures as needed.
• Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of them self, others or to property.
• Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
• Requires regular attendance to perform essential job functions between the assigned start and end times for work.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community.
• Maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
• Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
• Performs all job duties in a timely and efficient manner.
• Contributes to Plant cost reduction.
  
  

Position Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum one year’s experience in an industrial environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of production equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of Machine Operator-Mix Plant duties
• Experience in operating a front end/wheel loader is preferred
  
  

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  
  

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• Standing/walking for extended periods of time
• Ability to work overtime and occasionally on weekends with short notice
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
• Typical manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures & weather conditions
