Baker

Create exemplary dining experiences for guests of the resorts' food and beverage outlets, and banquet events, through preparation of delectable food expressions. The Baker is primarily assigned to preparing and producing bread, rolls, muffins, breakfast pastries, desserts, pastries, confections and ice cream, coverings of meat dishes, bakery products; creates artistic statuaries and ornaments out of sugar, pastry or ices.

A typical day for the Baker may include the following responsibilities:

• Prepares a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts for the patrons of the restaurant, guests of the weekly Luau show, all banquet/catering events, and will perform other special orders as requested.
• Keeps adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration of same
• Keeps spoilage/waste to a minimum by utilizing proper quantities, rotating, and dating product accurately.
• Daily cleaning and organization of the bake shop to keep the workstation neat and orderly.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses professional skills in pastries and baking acquired in a hotel/resort kitchen, or establishment with similar volume and products.

The ideal candidate is also someone with the following skills and abilities:

• Speak, read and write in the English language.
• Strong working knowledge of standard baking principles, food products and equipment.
• Ability to decipher recipes and reproduce at varying quantities.
• Knowledge of weights and measures.
• Previous experience producing custom orders of intricate desserts and wedding cakes.
• Working knowledge of food safety guidelines for sanitation.
• Ability to multi-task and prepare multiple products at one time while ensuring quality.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time and engage in considerable physical activity on a consistent basis.
• Ability to work in varying environments including extreme heat.
• Available and willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Team player who has the ability to work with limited supervision.
• TB clearance required.
• As a condition of employment, candidates must be able to satisfy all pre-employment screenings, such as criminal background checks, drug screening, and personal and professional references.
