Primary Purpose
The Family and Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating districtwide programs and initiatives that strengthen partnerships among Royal ISD families, schools, and the community. This position promotes meaningful family involvement in student learning, supports community engagement, and aligns family and community engagement efforts with district goals for student achievement.
Qualifications
Education/Certification and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three to five years of experience in family engagement, community outreach, communications, or a related field.
Experience working in a K–12 school setting preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
Knowledge of best practices in family engagement and community outreach.
Ability to develop, plan, and implement programs and events for families and community partners.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, staff, and community organizations.
Proficiency in technology for communication, virtual meetings, presentations, and data tracking.
Understanding of district, state, and federal guidelines related to family engagement initiatives.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Family, Community, and Student Engagement Support
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that promote family and community engagement across the district.
- Serve as a primary liaison among families, schools, and community organizations.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead family engagement events, workshops, and activities that support student learning and district initiatives.
- Collaborate with campus staff to ensure families are informed and involved in school programs, activities, and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and report engagement metrics, including participation rates, survey results, and stakeholder feedback.
- Provide training, resources, and support to staff to strengthen family engagement strategies.
- Support compliance with district, state, and federal family engagement requirements, including Title I programs.
- Identify community resources and partnerships to enhance support for students and families.
- Supervise and manage all aspects of the district’s McKinney-Vento Program.
- Support at-risk, dropout prevention, truancy, and related student support initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between school and home to foster a positive, welcoming, and supportive environment.
- Serve as the liaison for community programs, after-school programs, and related initiatives.
Records, Reports, and Correspondence
- Maintain documentation of family engagement events, participation data, analytics, and required Title I documentation.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, correspondence, and related documents.
- Prepare and deliver presentations as needed.
- Collaborate with campus principals and the Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education to ensure campus and district strategies for Campus Improvement Plans and District Improvement Plans meet requirements and are implemented with fidelity.
- Support the Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education with state and federal programs.
- Survey parents and families to determine needs and assess the effectiveness of the parent and family engagement program.
- Research and apply for grants that support family, community, and student engagement initiatives.

Salary : $56,088 - $70,000
