Job Title: Secondary Instructional Coach
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning

Term: 212 Days
Primary Purpose:
Support secondary instructional programs across campuses, including core content areas, professional learning, intervention, and enrichment, to ensure continuous instructional improvement and student success. The Secondary Instructional Coach provides direct support to secondary core content teachers through collaborative instructional planning, facilitation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and delivery of targeted professional development aligned to district and campus priorities. This role includes coaching teachers on effective lesson design, instructional delivery, use of data to inform instruction, and implementation of intervention and acceleration strategies to improve student outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum, design and implementation
Knowledge of district intervention systems
Knowledge of state curriculum and assessments
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three years successful teaching experience at the Secondary level
Instructional coach experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Curriculum & Instruction
- Collaborate with Secondary teachers to effectively increase student achievement through coaching, PLCs, professional development, and use of best practices.
- Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
- Develop, implement, and present professional development training to Secondary teachers and administrators as needed.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classrooms.
Instructional Programs
- Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
- Develop curriculum support materials as needed.
- Monitor the use and implementation of all secondary instructional programs to ensure efficiency and instructional programs are cost-effective and managed wisely.
- Develop and implement a continuing evaluation of secondary instructional programs and implement changes based on the findings when necessary.
- Support intervention procedures to monitor at-risk students at the secondary level and ensure that the resources are in place to support student success. Collect and use data to help guide campus intervention efforts.
- Perform duties as required by federal guidelines.
