Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses, school buses, paratransit vehicles, and other transportation modes according to traffic laws and company policies
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers with boarding, alighting, and ensuring their comfort during transit
- Maintain clear communication with passengers, colleagues, and dispatchers using effective verbal skills in English or multilingual formats
- Follow all safety protocols and conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical reliability and compliance with safety standards
- Manage behavior on board by applying positive behavior management techniques, especially when working with children or vulnerable populations
- Keep accurate records of routes, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance logs
- Assist with special transportation needs such as senior care or childcare transportation services as required
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for the vehicle type
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting basic issues
- Ability to work effectively with children, seniors, or individuals requiring special assistance or childcare support
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and responsible behavior management
