Basic Job Description:

The Production Supervisor will help the Plant Manager achieve all production and safety goals. He has the overall responsibility for the production operations. This includes managing production efficiency, maintenance, and cleanliness of the production line. This must be familiar with all aspects of running a SQF plant.

Specific Responsibilities:


• Work with Plant Manager on analyze and manage variances monthly.


• Maintain the production line and machinery asset management in conjunction with Maintenance.


• Be the expert on all machines in the production line and be a key communicator to troubleshoot any issues with the machines and to understand any continuous improvement initiatives from the production.


• Review and analyze production, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with production specifications, operation issues and production problems.


• Direct maintenance and sanitation personnel initiatives including the inspection of machines and plant to assure conformance with federal safety and qualifications standards.


• Manage asset maintenance and preventative maintenance programs to maximize reliability and uptime.


• Cultivate a safety-based environment focused on following and improving safe work practices


• Successfully manages production team, and provides performance feedback that promotes growth and development.


• Works with the Food Safety and Human Resources teams to ensure that employees and managers have the required safety training and are consistently working in a safe manner, with the goal of employee welfare and the reduction of accidents and injuries.


• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.


• Develops, implements, and maintains processes and procedure related to GMP to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of the operation.


• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


• Managing People--Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self-available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback; Develops subordinates' skills and Promote growth.


• Drive strong communication of critical information within the department and across departments


• Develop team members to increase job knowledge and capability through training and recertification.


• Keep employees safe.


• Play an active and significant role in the SOP implementation process to ensure effective, and efficient production runs.


• Implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate problems and improve product quality and quantity.


• Conduct regular inspections to maintain high packaging and food safety standards.


• Implement corrective actions for any deviations from quality requirements.


• Ensure compliance with GMPs, hygiene practices, allergen management, and preventive controls.

SQF System Implementation and Maintenance


• Maintain the Quality Management System in alignment with SQF Code requirements.


• Ensure procedures, records, and programs are current, accurate, and compliant.


• Food Safety Plan Management


• Develop, validate, verify, and maintain HACCP based food safety plans.


• Ensure hazard analyses and preventive controls remain effective.


• Internal Audits and Verification


• Conduct or oversee internal SQF system audits.


• Verify that CAPAs are implemented and effective.


• Review monitoring records and food safety document


• Minimize product quality issues by improving and following standard work practices


• Assure full compliance with all site Quality, HACCP, and Food Safety requirements.


• Observe the actual procedures being performed in the plant and compare them to the procedural documentation on a daily basis.


• Make sure all products are not adulterated.


• Actively involved in making sure plant is SQF ready.


• Manage resources to ensure daily schedule attainment requirements are met


• Disciplined in establishing metrics driven process and setting high expectations for self and the organization with data driven approach.

• Monitor the master schedule to establish the sequence and lead time of each operation to offset demurrage meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders;


• Coordinate and expedite the flow of work within and/or between departments according to the production schedule.


• Analyze production flow and warehouse capacity data to determine optimum efficient processes.


• Excellent critical thinking skills utilizing a Stabilize, Standardize, optimize problem solving and root-cause analysis

approach.

Requirements:


• years of experience in a food-processing environment, at a manager or supervisor level.


• Effective verbal and written communication skills.


• Bilingual English, Spanish


• Ability to handle multiple tasks.


• Ability to use common desktop software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and Email.


• HACCP Certified (preferred)


• rd Party Audit Readiness


• Strong, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) communicator (verbal and written)


• Significant Lean Manufacturing experience preferred


• Proven record of success in implementing process improvements

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift

and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision,

color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, necessary to provide production floor coverage.

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of walk. stand, reach over shoulder, reach overhead, reach outward and bend.

Salary Range $65,000 - $75,000
