The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production equipment and facility systems in a food manufacturing environment. This role requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, and fabrication work, along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure efficient and safe operations. This role will be supporting sanitation group during 3rd shit.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, including air compressors.
- Replace and repair electrical components such as plugs (110V, 208V, 460V), disconnects, relays, contacts, fuses, sensors, and motors.
- Rebuild motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Fabricate and assemble conveyors, frames, and tables.
- Replace plastic belts, timing belts, and conveyor components.
- Repair air lines, replace pneumatic valves, and install new air lines.
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and stick techniques.
- Wire and install cameras and Redzone sensors.
- Conduct bearing analysis, lubrication, and gearbox maintenance.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other necessary equipment.
- Must be able to follow OSHA protocol with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout).
- Work comfortably at heights exceeding 50 feet, including on ladders and catwalks.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Expertise in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical/electrical repairs.
- Strong fabrication skills, including welding and assembly of production components.
- Ability to rebuild motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Experience wiring and installing cameras and Redzone sensors.
- Strong troubleshooting, reading, writing, problem-solving, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction, as well as basic math calculations.
- Must be able to understand, write, and read English.
- Must be able to work in both buildings (located across the street from one another).
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations, including OSHA guidelines.
- Experience using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting.
- Must be team-oriented with the ability to work with others and without direct supervision.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented, with strong communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (GMP, HACCP) is preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
- Exposure to varying temperatures depending on warehouse conditions.
- Cold and wet environment with temperatures ranging from 35 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must adhere to safety standards, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to wear steel toe shoes
- Standard hazards associated with persons and equipment in motion in a warehouse.
- Ability to read, write, see, hear, and speak clearly to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication.
- Ability to bend, squat, stoop, reach, turn, push and pull, and move around in a fast-paced environment as needed to complete job tasks.
