Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications following all HIPAA regulations and medical documentation protocols using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) or EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assess residents’ health status.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and feeding—especially in memory care or hospice environments.
- Maintain accurate medical records, document medication administration, and update patient charts with detailed notes on health changes or concerns.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or other complex medical procedures requiring physiology and anatomy knowledge.
- Observe for signs of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive impairments; implement appropriate memory care strategies.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed effectively while respecting HIPAA privacy standards.
- Provide compassionate caregiving in assisted living facilities or home care settings for individuals with developmental disabilities or acute medical needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living communities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and medical documentation practices is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner enhances your ability to deliver seamless patient care.
- Demonstrated understanding of physiology and anatomy related to medication management and patient monitoring.
- Experience caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other cognitive impairments is a strong asset.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities across diverse settings including hospice and memory care environments.
- Certification as a Medication Technician or similar credential is required; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and safety standards is expected.
