The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Lead, Energy Emissions Finance reporting to the Director, Finance Fuel.

This position works on-site in Miami, Florida.

Position Summary

The Energy and Emissions Finance Lead is a key contributor to RCG’s environmental and corporate decarbonization strategy. This role is responsible for modeling and forecasting expenses for shore power utilization, emissions, carbon allowances (e.g., EU ETS, UK ETS). In addition, this role gets to support operational excellence, accounting and financial reporting requirements, and other related disclosures in partnership with the Corporate Responsibility team.

As a member of the Fuel Finance Team, you are responsible for financial planning and analysis and will apply analytical and data-driven techniques to support, measure, and forecast the finances underlying the company’s decarbonization strategy, as well as track and report performance, variances, and report insights to senior leadership. In addition, you will oversee the financial month-end closing duties and partner with accounting and external reporting teams. With additional focus on existing and emerging regulations, you will also lead updates on the financial impacts of global emissions and shore power strategy.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Energy and Decarbonization Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert in greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental regulations (e.g., CII, GFI, EU/UK ETS, Fuel EU Maritime)
  • Play a key role in the planning, implementation, and evolution of the emissions reduction roadmap
  • Work cross-functionally with corporate and brand leadership in areas including but not limited to: shoreside and shipboard marine operations, energy and decarbonization, finance, accounting, legal/compliance and tax, treasury/financial risk management, revenue and deployment, environmental stewardship/corporate responsibility, supply chain/procurement, and port operations
  • Assist in goal and strategy setting, which includes providing key inputs, analysis, and assumptions supporting corporate models for forecasts and long-range plans
  • Own the tracking of performance towards strategic, operational/financial, reporting, and compliance objectives related to shore power, carbon emissions, carbon allowances, and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) compliance, environmental reporting (e.g., Carbon Disclosure/CDP to DNV) – as well as provide insights and recommendations to finance and operations teams to influence outcomes and meet targets
  • Enhance and optimize reporting dashboards (Power BI) and develop predictive analytics capabilities to provide useful, relevant, and reliable information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and present observations and recommendations to executive audiences
  • Respond to frequent ad-hoc requests for analysis from management and senior leadership

Financial Responsibilities

  • Own the carbon allowance financial model (EU/UK ETS compliance) and model for shore power, and all related assumptions including impact of existing and possible emerging regulations
  • Own the financial accounts related to carbon emissions and shore power; own the related forecasting, analysis and month-end financial closing procedures for these accounts
  • Prepare and present monthly analysis of operational and financial performance to the corporate financial controller, and executives in brand finance and global marine operations (GMO)
  • Prepare and present recommendations to improve operational and financial performance, including insights from past performance and considerations for future based on the evolving regulatory and operating landscape, in the context of the company’s strategy
  • Manage a budget of over $50 million that will continue to grow significantly
  • Support the GMO, strategy, and capital teams with financial diligence and business planning
  • Support various teams in review contracts related to shore power (HVSC)
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Finance / Engineering / Business or other analytical field from an accredited college or university is required. Post graduate degree a plus. 
  • 5-7 years of experience in finance and/or engineering positions, within marine, shipping or travel/transportation industry is preferred
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Copilot)
  • Experience with data analytics platforms (Databricks is a plus)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multi-function working teams
  • Very strong Excel skills required
  • Python, VBA, or other coding skills are highly preferred (experience using A.I. tools is a plus)
  • Experience with Power BI and ability to display data visually, creating powerful presentations which effectively quantify and justify value created to both analytical and non-analytical audiences
  • Strong analytics skillset is required for building and maintaining financial models
  • Need to possess long-range financial modeling and (business planning skills is a plus)
  • Must be well organized, pay close attention to detail, possess strong planning, and time management skills and demonstrate the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and assign tasks as needed to perform successfully
  • Excellent critical thinking, verbal, and written communications skills, with strong confidence in communicating with senior managers and executives
  • Highly motivated, curious, collaborative, and innovative
