THIS POSITION IS TO WORK ONBOARD
Supports Entertainment Technical Operations in delivering high-quality entertainment experiences to guests. Primarily assists the technical operations of the aerial program and backstage operations across multiple venues including repair and maintenance of stage equipment and props. This position works closely with Entertainment Rigging Specialists and may support other members of the Entertainment Technical Team, Group Coordinator, and the Entertainment Division’s Management Team with the live music and entertainment program around the ship in the same capacity as Technical Stage Staff within available working hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a shipboard position. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with all company policies, legal guidelines, and industry best practices in effect at the time of active employment.
1. Reports to the Stage & Production Manager when running a show or event in a venue and receives their daily schedules from the Head Stage Staff.
2. Successfully completes the Flying by Foy Operator Basics Training prior to their first contract and applies training to the safe operation of the aerial program once onboard.
3. Performs show-related duties as instructed while prioritizing safety and upholding the artistic and technical integrity of all produced entertainment onboard. Prior to rehearsals or performances:
- Sets up the venue according to a technical rider or track sheet.
- Assembles and inspects all personal and performer flying equipment according to company approved documentation.
- Maintains cleanliness of the rehearsal or performance areas.
- During rehearsals or performances, the STRG:
- Follows the assigned and approved track sheet duties and listens for the show caller and aerial operator’s cues.
- Monitors the stage and aerial performance area, calling accurate clears and maintaining performer safety.
- Assists performers in loading and unloading from their equipment or apparatus, and ensuring their safety before, during, and immediately after each flying sequence.
- Communicates effectively and professionally both on and off the venue communication system.
- Performs other duties as instructed; tasks may include assisting with costume changes, band setups, or operating spotlights.
- Adheres to Flying by Foy operational conditions.
- After rehearsals or performances, the STRG:
- Inspects and securely stores all personal and performer flying equipment according to company approved procedures.
- Promptly communicates any concerns of damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Rigging Specialists and Stage & Production Manager(s).
- Ensures the cleanliness of the venue and backstage areas.
4. Proactively supports the live music and entertainment program around the ship by assisting with the handling of props, set pieces, instruments, and equipment for headliner acts, guest activities, parades, and band sets.
5.May be actively involved in the maintenance and repairs of all props, set pieces, and equipment used in the live entertainment program around the ship.
- Works at height, on ladders, grids, aerial work platforms, and under hydraulic lifts.
6. May be called upon by the Stage & Production Manager to support Group Coordinators in setting up and striking identified equipment for special events and presentations.
7. Participates in all scheduled rehearsals, meetings, and trainings.
8. Accurately updates handover notes, track sheets, maintenance logs, and other operational documents or electronic assets stored within company approved databases.
9. Performs related duties as required by shipboard or shoreside leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
Aerial rigging knowledge or prior experience with theater/entertainment rigging or performer flying systems.
Works well with a team: collaborative, communicates promptly and accurately, adaptable, motivated to learn from peers and supervisors.
Bachelor’s Degree (or the international equivalent) in Theatre or Production Arts with Theatre Technology focus from an accredited university or comparable professional experience as a stagehand providing audio, lighting, or theatrical rigging support.
Must be familiar with theatre operations etiquette and safety.
Experience with carpentry, painting, and working with hand tools to support theatrical repair work.
Experience with setting up and maintaining backline equipment, cabling, soldering, or repairing lighting fixtures.
Experience with video setup/troubleshooting between Windows or Mac computers and external devices such as projectors and TV screens.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially.
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information to subordinates and colleagues.
All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Therefore, the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is necessary
