Will report to the Head of School.
Assist the Co-Head/Teacher
The Assistant Co-Head of School is tasked with teaching and administering in a small,
shop-front Montessori school.
The preferred leaders have Montessori experience, three or more years of classroom
teaching experience, and administrative experience. They have a deep knowledge of early
childhood theory and practice, and a commitment to engaging parents and families.
The Teacher-Leader should have a minimum EEC certification of “Lead Teacher preschool”
and/or “Director 1”. The Teacher-Leader will work in cooperation with a co-Teacher-Leader
to accomplish the following:
Position Objectives
● Create and maintain a Montessori program that helps to identify the school as a
leading independent educational alternative for children.
● Create and maintain an environment that inspires inner discipline, self-assurance, and
a love of learning.
● Provide the educational leadership that will help children and parents work together
towards the child’s optimal development.
● Practice respect, value differences.
● Communicate clearly and openly with children, colleagues, and parents to facilitate
children's transition to their next educational experiences.
● Manage Extended Day, Assistant, Parent Volunteer, and Substitute staff.
● Establish a system of regular communication with families.
● Other responsibilities as determined through communication with the co-Head of
school/teacher Leader.
● Demonstrate ability to meet obligations, support school policies, and collaborate
constructively with colleagues.
Line of Accountability
● Directly accountable to the Co-Head of School
● Accountable for the supervision of assistants, associates, and interns

Responsibilities
Curriculum and Environment
● Implement a Montessori curriculum that is consistent with the school’s mission
and curriculum objectives.
● Participate in the continual development, review, and revision of the school’s
curriculum, procedures, and practices.
● Intervene proactively and reactively to maintain a disciplined community.
Communications
● Learn the RRM’s Mission statement.
● Participate in all staff meetings and professional development
● Design and implement clear lines of communication with parents
● Keep subjective and objective records of students’ progress.
● Confer with parents in regular conference periods and as needed.
Communicate professionally, directly, and respectfully with colleagues
● Contribute to school publications and keep classroom web pages current
Logistics/Assistant Co-head
● Support and learn Systems related to the administration of the school
○ HR support
○ Billing support
○ Accounting and record keeping
○ Learning and supporting the school's Child Care Software
Logistics/lead teacher
● Take responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of school routines:
○ Recess coverage
○ Breaks
○ Coverages for employee absences
○ During school emergencies
● Share in the responsibility for maintaining the school routines, such as
○ Posting schedules
○ Arrival and dismissal
○ Planning and preparing or shopping for a weekly snack
○ Supervising recess and outdoor time

Professional growth and development
● Obtain a Montessori credential for Assistain, or 3-6 if not already held.
● Set professional goals annually with the Co-heads of school
● Communicate regularly with Co-Heads of School regarding areas of professional
strength and weakness
● Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid every two years
● Fingerprinting every 4 years or as required by BRC
● Meet the yearly EEC 20-hour required professional development
