District Elementary Math Coach (12-Month Position)
Position Summary
The District Math Coach provides leadership and support to schools to strengthen mathematics instruction, improve student outcomes, and build teacher capacity across the district. This role focuses on coaching school-based math teachers and coaches, supporting instructional consistency, and aligning practices to district priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Lead the implementation of district math curriculum, instructional frameworks, and assessment practices
- Model high-quality math instruction and facilitate demonstration lessons across schools
- Support the development of rigorous, standards-aligned instruction
Coaching & Capacity Building
- Provide coaching and support to school-based math coaches and teachers
- Develop the coaching skills of school-based instructional leaders
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and district-wide math professional development
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze district, school, and classroom-level data to identify trends and instructional needs
- Support schools in using data to inform instruction and intervention
- Monitor progress toward district math goals and adjust supports accordingly
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with principals, instructional leaders, and district staff to align math initiatives
- Serve as a liaison between schools and the district office for math instruction
- Communicate clear expectations and provide actionable feedback to stakeholders
Program Implementation
- Support implementation of intervention programs and enrichment opportunities
- Ensure fidelity of curriculum and instructional resources across schools
- Assist in selecting and evaluating instructional materials
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in education or math, Master Degree preferred
- Valid teaching license
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in mathematics
- Required: Prior school-level instructional coaching experience
- Demonstrated success improving student achievement
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep understanding of mathematics content and pedagogy
- Strong coaching and adult learning facilitation skills
- Ability to analyze and act on data
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across schools
