Communications and Community Engagement Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and versatile professional to join our school district team as
a Communications and Community Engagement Specialist. This role is essential in
managing our district's online presence, creating engaging content, and fostering
strong community and business partnerships. The ideal candidate will combine
technical expertise in website management with excellent communication skills and
a passion for community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Website Management and Optimization
? Serve as the primary website specialist for the district, overseeing
maintenance, development, and optimization of the school system's main
website and supporting individual school websites.
? Ensure ADA compliance on all district web pages and evaluate school pages
for compliance, notifying schools of any violations.
? Maintain website format and navigation to ensure continuity and
standardization across all pages.
? Ensure the website is mobile-responsive and compatible with a wide range of
browsers and devices.
? Conduct regular website checks to identify and resolve technical issues, such
as broken links or loading errors.
? Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to enhance the website's
user experience.
Content Creation and Management
? Create and upload high-quality content, including text, images, videos, and
other multimedia elements, to the website.
? Regularly maintain and update the website's content to ensure accuracy and
relevance.
? Conduct interviews with students, teachers, staff, and community members
to gather compelling stories that highlight the district's impact and produce
engaging written content such as blog posts, articles, and features.
? Enhance the website's visual appeal and content quality to market the district
to the community effectively, prospective families, and potential

? Create and manage a content calendar to ensure regular, timely updates
across all platforms.
Community and Business Partnerships
? Build and maintain relationships with community and business partners to
enhance support for district programs and special events.
? Maintain a comprehensive record of business partners, including all school
partnerships and collaborations.
? Actively solicit partnerships from businesses to support district and school
initiatives and events.
? Create appreciation posts, letters, thank-you cards, and other efforts to
maintain goodwill with business partners.
Project Management and Reporting
? Collaborate with the Director to ensure a consistent and visually appealing
online presence.
? Prioritize and structure tasks to meet deadlines and expectations.
? Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications and Skills
? Bachelor's degree in Communications, Web Design, Marketing, or a related
field; two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
? Proven experience in website management and content creation.
? Strong understanding of user experience principles and web design best
practices.
? Excellent computer literacy skills, including proficiency in web design tools
and technologies.
? A deep understanding of ADA compliance requirements for websites is
preferred.
? Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
? Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
? Excellent project management and organizational skills.
? Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
? Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
? Experience in community outreach and partnership building.
