Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of Temporary Recycling Center Operator. This position assists the public in unloading refuse and recyclable materials from vehicles, collects fees, and educates the public on recycling and the proper separation of waste materials; works 12 hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Friday, and Saturday plus one hour on Tuesday; temporary assignment; work hours will not exceed 999 for the calendar year.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and to make change accurately; must be able to lift weights of approximately 65 lbs or less unassisted and weights over 65 lbs with assistance; and to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions where the employee is exposed to elements of nature: cold, hot, rain, snow, sleet, ice, etc.

Requires high school diploma; previous experience with public service is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

Pay Rate: $17.76 - $19.53 per hour (commensurate with experience).
