Job Title: Office Assistant III - Part-time Job #1060-1 Application Dates: Open Until Filled Salary Range/Pay Rate: $16.11 to $17.72 per hour.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of PT Office Assistant III (Sheriff’s Office). This position maintains departmental records, reports and files; processes incoming and outgoing mail; types and proofreads letters and memos; answers incoming calls; and greets the public. 19 hours per week not to exceed 999 in a calendar year.
About Us
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was established in 1753, with the Sheriff as the only officer. The Sheriff’s Office now consists of a total of 207 employees that provide professional law enforcement to the citizens of Rowan County. During 2003, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was awarded the J. Stannard Baker Award, a national award for outstanding achievement in highway safety.
The Rowan County Detention Center is a 210 bed, direct supervision facility made up primarily of dormitory style housing units. The Rowan County Detention Center Annex facility can house an additional 160 inmates. annex facility is comprised of four (4) 40 -inmate dormitories. facilities are self-sufficient operations consisting of housing, food service and laundry facilities that maintain a high level of service on a daily basis.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Requires general knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to compile and record information based on general instructions; ability to type with accuracy using correct spelling and grammatical structure; ability to utilize computer software applications; ability to answer questions independently and resolve problems; and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Requires a high school diploma and one year of clerical experience, preferably supplemented by community college courses in Secretarial Science or Business Administration.
