Description
The library at Rowan College at Burlington County seeks an enthusiastic, user-centered part-time Information Specialist. The successful candidate should have experience in conducting research via electronic resources, teaching library resource instruction programs, and knowledge of the library catalog.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Handling reference and directional questions, processing various requests (barcodes, study rooms), maintaining user stats, conducting library sessions and workshops
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
MLS or equivalent preferred, but we will accept applicants from MLS or equivalent Graduate programs.
Experience Required:
Some college coursework required
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Docs/Sheets with basic computer troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to teach and respond to a diverse community population including paraprofessionals, student workers, students, faculty, and other patrons.
- Willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a cooperative, productive team member.
- Flexible part-time schedule of daytime, evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
- Ability to travel to other campuses as needed.

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
