What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Head Swim Coach - West Cabarrus position at Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA?
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the guidance of the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Associate Head Swim Coach will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the management of all summer swim team practices, summer swim team meets, summer swim team celebrations, and represent the West Cabarrus YMCA during conference meets. The Associate Head Swim Coach will follow the directions provided by the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach to ensure quality programming, organization, communication, and experience for all program participants on the Summer Swim Team at the West Cabarrus YMCA.
KNOW HOW
• Incumbent must pass YMCA background checks and successfully complete and maintain CPR/AED, First Aid and Lifeguard certifications or the ability to acquire them within 30 days of employment.

• Ability to execute swim practice plans
• Assist with the set up and break down of a Summer Swim Meet
• Must be attentive to details, be able to work with and meet deadlines, take initiative to develop and provide feedback to parents, coaches, and swimmers.
• Must have excellent problem resolution and human relation skills as well as quality written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems and work independently with little supervision
• Possess organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow all schedules & execute the plans provided by the Aquatics Director and/or Head Coach
• Oversee the operation of practices and the team in the absence of the Head Coach.
• Write and develop affective practice to help develop swimmers’ abilities and confidence.
• Maintain detailed records of practices, swim meets, and other events for each swimmer
• Evaluate each swimmer on a weekly basis and help develop a personal improvement plan
• Assist in creating a safe environment where all participants can thrive
• Assure facilities, equipment, and entire branch grounds are clean, in good working condition, in good repair, and kept attractive
• Know all emergency action procedures for the facility and assist with leading others in case of emergency
• Enforce all facility policies and procedures
• Participate in regular summer swim team meetings with other coaches and aquatics leadership staff
• Dress and conduct self in a positive manner befitting the YMCA and its mission
• Accept additional responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned
