The organization works to create a thriving cycling community by improving access to trails, promoting bike safety, and organizing community events. With a focus on enhancing the experience for cyclists of all skill levels, Routt County Riders plays a key role in supporting sustainable and accessible cycling infrastructure and initiatives in the region.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Program Director, based in Steamboat Springs, CO. The Program Director (PD) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program implementation and growth, creative marketing and design for programs, and community events. Key duties include volunteer outreach, community engagement, data collection and research to aid in program growth, and extensive collaboration with program partners, and social media. The PD reports to the RCR Executive Director (ED) and supervises the work of multiple volunteers.

Position Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities - 

● Responsible for delivery of high quality programs that improve and expand access to cycling experiences in the Yampa Valley. 

• Continually evaluate programs for ongoing viability or modification in alignment with RCR mission and community needs. 
• Collect data and write reports to support program continuation and growth. 

● Work closely with the Executive Director to achieve organizational goals. 

• Set yearly program budgets. 
• Foster relationships with potential or existing partners. 
• Execute Marketing Committee initiatives, including graphic design and merchandise programs.
• Assist ED with workflow and project prioritization. 
• Perform other organizational tasks as requested by ED or Board. 

● Recruit, train, and supervise motivated teams of volunteers to deliver on RCR programs and events. 

• Organize volunteer opportunities including, but not limited to: Trail Work Days, Street Smarts, Trail Ambassadors, Events, and Highway Cleanups.
• Encourage a healthy volunteer culture resulting in high levels of engagement, performance, and retention. 
• Develop processes for and execute volunteer training. 
• Continuously improve volunteer experience by collecting feedback throughout each season.

 ● Support the Marketing Committee in execution of their strategic plans for social media, merchandise, and other marketing-related tasks. 

• Post regular content on RCR social media channels. 
• Work with the Marketing Committee on merchandise design, funding, and procurement.

• Develop events that benefit RCR’s mission and the broader cyclist community.
• Support events for community members to connect around cycling generally, and RCR programs specifically.
• Develop opportunities and events for marginalized groups. 
• Seek out and participate in cycling-related events, including trade shows and conferences. 
• In coordination with the ED, provide support and collaboration within partnerships and co-events such as SBT GRVL, The Cycle Effect, and Farmers’ Markets.

Pay and Benefits: $50-60,000/yr to start, DOE. Annual raises based on performance. You’ll get paid to be outdoors, sometimes paid to ride your bike! Mileage reimbursement will be paid out at the current IRS rate for days where a personal vehicle is used as trail work day shuttle or to travel outside of city limits on work errands. Benefits include - Paid Vacation Time, Personal Sick Days, Paid Holidays, and Paid Health Insurance.

Employment will be considered probationary for six months, but we are hoping to offer long-term employment at the end of this period.
