Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, and administering medications as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, cages, and common areas through thorough sanitization and grooming
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and ensure their comfort during interactions
- Monitor animal behavior to identify signs of stress or illness and report concerns promptly
- Assist with pet boarding procedures, including check-ins, check-outs, and record keeping
- Support pet owners with questions about pet care, services offered, and facility policies
- Perform outdoor work such as exercise walks or yard play to promote physical activity and mental stimulation
Skills
- Previous veterinary experience or veterinary technician background preferred
- Experience in pet sitting, dog training, or animal handling highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of animal behavior and restraint techniques
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Skilled in pet grooming and animal care routines
- Capable of performing cleaning tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards
- Experience with pet boarding facilities or animal shelter operations beneficial
- Knowledge of outdoor work environments and sanitization protocols in pet care facilities
