What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Route 20 Auto Parts, Inc.?
We’re a high-volume auto salvage yard processing roughly 50 vehicles a week, and we’re looking for a Parts Salesman who wants to be paid for performance, not just hours. You’ll own the counter: quoting, closing, and invoicing used auto parts sales on our Pinnacle inventory system, while keeping our inventory sharp and our parts quality high.
This is not a warm-body counter job. Base pay covers the work; commission rewards the results. We have a written, two-stage commission plan, you’ll see the exact numbers and the exact path to the higher rates on day one. Hit your marks and your commission percentage goes up. Bring us a commercial account (shop, rebuilder, exporter) and there’s a cash bounty on top.
What You’ll Do
- Handle walk-in and phone customers: quote parts, follow up, close sales, and invoice in Pinnacle
- Inspect, test, and grade every part before it goes out the door (quality control)
- Inventory parts into Pinnacle with correct interchange numbers, grades, and photos
- Triage incoming vehicles: identify what’s worth inventorying, what’s worth a full workup, and what’s scrap
- Process returns, warranties, and cores
- Build repeat business with local shops and commercial buyers
How You Get Paid
- $17.00/hour base steady, every week, covers all duties
- Tiered monthly commission on gross profit from your invoices — the more you sell, the higher your percentage climbs
- Conversion bonus: flat monthly cash bonus for closing 30% of your quotes, bigger bonus at 40%
- Commercial account bounty: one-time cash payment for every repeat shop/commercial account you sign
- Earned promotion: meet written performance targets for three months and your commission rates increase permanently
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in auto parts sales, salvage/recycling yards, or automotive repair strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of vehicle parts, interchange, and part grading (or the mechanical aptitude to learn fast)
- Comfortable on the phone and at the counter, you follow up on quotes instead of letting them die
- Basic computer skills; Pinnacle (or Hollander/Checkmate/other yard management system) experience is a big plus
- Attention to detail — misgraded parts come back, and returns cost you commission
- Reliable, self-directed, and honest
Nice to Have
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Existing relationships with local repair shops or rebuilders
- Experience testing electrical/mechanical components
Why Work Here
- Uncapped commission with a transparent, written pay plan, no moving goalposts
- Clear promotion path with numbers you can track yourself in Pinnacle
- High vehicle intake means fresh inventory every week, you’ll always have something to sell
- Small team, direct access to the owner, your ideas actually get heard
Pay: $18.32 - $18.50 per hour
Benefits:
- Dental insurance
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Opportunities for advancement
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
Work Location: In person
