What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Snowplow Driver position at Rouse Estate?
The Rouse is hiring a Seasonal Snowplow Driver! This position will assist the maintenance team with snow removal during the winter season (December – March). Hours will be assigned as needed and candidate must be available during off-shift hours (4 pm – 7am). Equipment provided.
What are the requirements to be a Seasonal Snowplow Driver at the Rouse?
Legal & Licensing Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean or acceptable driving record (no major violations in the last 3–5 years).
- Ability to legally operate a vehicle in winter conditions.
Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience with snowplowing is strongly preferred (1 seasons) OR documented experience operating:
o Pickup trucks with large attachments
o Utility plows, skid-steers, or similar equipment
Skill Requirements:
- Safe Vehicle Operation Skills
- Ability to maneuver a truck safely in tight areas (parking lots, residential drives, docks).
- Ability to reverse with mirrors only and manage blind spots.
- Proficiency adjusting plow angle, blade height, and knowing when to stack or push snow.
- Technical / Mechanical Skills
- Basic understanding of:
o Hydraulic plow controls
o Electrical connections
o Salter/spreader systems (if attached)
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and operate controls for long periods.
- Ability to exit the vehicle to chip ice, adjust equipment, or shovel tight spots.
- Stamina to work overnight shifts or long-duration storms.
Behavioral & Reliability Requirements:
- On-call availability, often overnight or early morning.
- Respond quickly to dispatch notifications (calls, text chains, weather alerts).
- Strong situational awareness and judgment during hazardous conditions.
