Roundtable is looking to hire an on-site digital reporter based in Champaign to cover the Illinois Fighting Illini, with a focus on football and men's & women's basketball. This is a contract opportunity with payment on a per-story basis. Current students are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Author daily articles about the Illinois Fighting Illini, spanning news, features, analyses, opinion stories and game coverage
- Attend home football and basketball games, press conferences and media availabilities, and write stories following these events
- Engage with the Fighting Illini community via Roundtable's built-in community section
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate is a self-starter who can produce ideas for their own stories and projects
- Knowledge of the University of Illinois and the Fighting Illini athletics programs
- Comfortable navigating press conferences, media availabilities, scrums, etc.
- Ability to self-edit own writing and work on tight deadlines
- Experience with AP Style and SEO practices
- Located in the Champaign, Ill., area
- Comfortable on camera with short-form video content
