About Round Rock ISD PD:

The Round Rock ISD Police Department is a leader in school policing, committed to equitable and unbiased student advocacy to create the safest environment where students can reach their full potential. Our certified Texas Peace Officers serve the students, staff, and community across 55 campuses and 14 special facilities within the 110-square-mile District. Our approach to school policing is guided by four key pillars:

• Pillar 1: Safety and Security: Our officers maintain a safe learning environment by deterring crime, responding quickly to threats, and being active role models in the school community. On-site officers, familiar with juvenile law, help ensure better outcomes for students.
• Pillar 2: Behavioral Health: We support student well-being with a dedicated team of social workers and a therapy dog. This collaborative approach allows us to address mental health issues effectively, offering specialized support alongside traditional policing.

About this Role:

The Assistant Chief of Police reports directly to the Chief of Police and assists in planning, directing, coordinating, and organizing the programs and daily operations of the Round Rock ISD Police Department. Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising sworn and non-sworn personnel, including field investigations, shift assignments, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Overseeing daily operations, evidence handling, departmental records, and case filings with the District Attorney and grand jury.
• Investigating complaints, handling critical incidents, and monitoring safety and crime prevention initiatives across district facilities.
• Collaborating with campus administrators, district leadership, and external law enforcement agencies to maintain effective working relationships and support student needs.
• Serving on call 24/7 and representing the department at district or Board of Trustee meetings as requested.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid and current Texas Master Peace Officer license issued by TCOLE
• Three years of executive law enforcement experience at the rank of lieutenant or higher
• Valid Texas driver’s license; must meet district vehicle liability insurance requirements
• Bondable as required by Texas Education Code 37.081(h)
