About the Role: Scheduler, Bus Routes
The Scheduler supports the daily operational efficiency of the Transportation Department by organizing personnel and equipment, coordinating district bus routes and extracurricular trips, and ensuring logistics and communication are managed smoothly. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to multitask in a busy environment, and a commitment to high-quality customer service for parents, campus staff, and transportation teams.
The Scheduler also maintains transportation database records, assists with dispatch operations, collaborates with maintenance and support staff, and may substitute for drivers or office staff when needed.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Transportation Scheduling & Coordination
- Organize and schedule employees and equipment for district routes, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Coordinate special equipment needs and collaborate with campus personnel and support staff to ensure resource readiness.
- Maintain and update departmental databases for billing, logistics, and routing information.
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide responsive communication to parents, campuses, and internal teams to resolve transportation needs and concerns.
- Build positive relationships and collaborate with campuses to address student discipline or behavior-related transportation issues.
Operational & Administrative Support
- Assist with maintaining accurate billing and logistical records and collaborate with the Accounting Specialist to ensure accuracy.
- Manage dispatch-related communication and substitute for office staff or drivers as needed.
- Support continuous improvement by collaborating with the team to refine processes and enhance service delivery.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Participate in ongoing training to strengthen skills and improve departmental performance.
- Engage in department team-building and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Other Duties
- Follow federal, state, and district policies.
- Perform additional job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Entry Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of related experience (transportation, scheduling, logistics, or administrative support preferred)
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) with P and S endorsements, or the ability to obtain a CDL within three weeks of hire
- Acceptable driving record (no more than 5 points at time of hire)
