Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
Greets and receives customers in a welcoming manner.
Scans goods and ensures pricing is accurate.
Accurately and efficiently completes sales transactions using POS.
Collects payments (cash, credit or gift card) and issues receipts to customers.
Maintains proper accountability on register.
Reports register discrepancies to manager or lead.
Redeems coupons and describes/enrolls customers in Gardener’s Rewards Program
Creates and updates customer profile records.
Helps direct customers to plants/products.
Directs customer complaints to Manager or Lead.
Calls Manager or Lead for assistance with merchandise exchanges and returns, including refunds.
Alerts management of potential security issues.
Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, responding to questions and sharing product knowledge.
Keeps customers informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.
Moves, loads, and unloads plants.
Maintains clean and tidy checkout areas.
Regular and reliable attendance; arriving as scheduled and ready to work.
Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by the manager/lead.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to communicate with customers, other peers, and management.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task.
Ability to receive and address complaints and problems as they arise from customers.
Basic plant knowledge or the willingness to learn about plants and gardening.
Team oriented and able to work under the direction of the Manager and/or Leads.
The ability to work outside in various weather elements.
Strong time management skills.
Knowledge of basic math skills
Reliable transportation
Retail cashier or customer service experience a plus.
Nursery experience not required but extremely helpful.
Physical requirements of the job:
The ability to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours per day.
The ability to lift up to 50lbs.
The ability to lift 20lbs repeatedly for at least 4 hours.
Kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Pushing or pulling objects.
Bending/stooping.
Education:
High school Diploma or equivalent
