Job Summary:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the credit & collections function for all divisions. The position requires the ability to apply sound credit management techniques based on experience and as outlined by the company's credit policies, procedures, and practices. The Credit Representative must have the ability to interface with all levels of management both externally with the customer (Purchasing, Finance, etc.) and internally with Sales, Customer Service, and Shipping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review new customer set-up requests, investigate credit worthiness through D&B, bank & trade references, analyze and establish appropriate terms for sale (Cash with order, Cash-In-Advance, Letter of Credit, C.O.D., or open account - net XX days with a credit limit of $ X,XXX)
- Review existing customer credit lines on a periodic basis (once every 2 years) or as needed based on account activity (sales order backlog, shipment schedules, payment history, etc.)
- Complete and thorough review and follow-up of daily report L01846 of prior day’s sales orders checking the customer sales order backlog dollar amount and due date and their current outstanding balance and payment history to see if the established credit line will be sufficient
- Make collection (request for payment) and payment reminder telephone calls with a systematic approach for follow-up; Request 'proof-of-delivery' statements to assist in obtaining customer payment
- Investigate, analyze and adjust when necessary customer 'debits' and/or short payments
- Review and process Credit Memo and Special Billing requests
- Respond to customer account status inquiries from the customer, sales, production, shipping as well as external credit reference inquiries of our credit experiences with customers
- Attend job related seminars and conferences to maintain knowledge, skills, and ability
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of credit experience in a business-to-business environment
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to travel as needed (occasional).
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at organizations’ facilities.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
