JOB DESCRIPTION
PART I: SUMMARY OF POSITION
This assignment is accountable for assisting in the directing and coordinating the production of the spring musical at the High School.
PART II: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Employment in this class is conditional upon possession of a valid Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate appropriate to the teaching assignment.
B. CREDENTIALS:

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge musical productions;
- Knowledge of make-up and costumes;
- Knowledge of sound and lighting design;
- Knowledge of sheet music, music software, band charting programs, and music writing programs;
- Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology;
- Effective, active listening skills;
- Organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Skills in public speaking;
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing;
- Ability to design and build scenery;
- Ability to operate equipment and machinery for set construction/production;
- Ability to operate various audio and visual equipment;

PART III: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Arranges for transportation, chaperones and lodging when necessary;
- Assists administration with preparation and monitoring of the budget relating to spring musical activities, following established internal accounting procedures in collecting monies and in purchasing;
- Attends meetings and in-services as required;
- Coordinates all publicity, financial arrangements and ticket sales;
- Coordinates dates and times for spring musical activities with the principal or designee;
- Coordinates the selection of cast and other participants necessary for the production;
- Encourages activities in support of school and community such as producing a spring musical;
- Encourages students to appreciate and value their classmates, school, and community;
- Encourages students to appreciate spring musical, learn about the various facets of production, and to improve upon character development and public presentation skills;
- Ensures student safety and compliance with all regulations;
- Establishes goals and plans for spring musical interests and activities;
- Establishes written guidelines for awards and special recognition;
- Helps plan fundraiser, events, and production activities;
- Holds meetings at least once a week to discuss interests and plan activities;
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents;
- Keeps inventories of school property;
- Maintains respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student records, etc.;
- Makes contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy;
- Obtains all props, sets, costumes and equipment necessary for the performance of the spring musical;
- Promotes and monitors these goals to keep the participants on task;
- Responds to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner;
- Secures performance rights for productions of published spring musical;
- Serves as a role model for students;
- Supervises all activities associated with the fall spring musical;
- Performs related duties as required.
