What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at Rouge?
Responsibilities:
- Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus.
- Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service.
- Manage the flow of guests in the restaurant.
- Tend to special guest needs and requests.
- Be observant to guests’ needs throughout dining experience to ensure they receive high quality service.
- Be aware of “where the room is at” — when tables sit, pay, leave, need to be cleared, etc.
- Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water (when necessary).
- Return any voicemail messages.
- Confirm all reservations.
Requirements:
- Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance.
- Must be comfortable meeting new people.
- Must be able to clearly communicate guests’ needs the FOH/BOH.
- Must be able to hear well in a loud environment in order to answer the phone and respond to guest requests/questions.
- Must be able to walk and stand during the entire shift.
- Must have a desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team.
- Must have a passion for providing extraordinary service.
- Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced/high-end environment.
- Must have a flexible schedule and/or open availability (3-5 shifts a week, weekends a MUST).
- Must be upbeat, outgoing and positive.
- Must have good people skills and think quick on your feet.
- MUST have at least 1 years experience as a host/hostess/event coordinator in a full-service restaurant/bar/hotel; references preferred.
- Familiarity with Resy is a plus.
