POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment such as grinders, shredders, and recycling machinery. This role involves frequent travel to customer sites, providing both technical support and training. The Field Service Technician will be located in the Elkhart, IN or Milwaukee, WI area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on various heavy equipment including grinding, shredding, and screening machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures and provide technical support to customers.
- Be the authority on features, benefits, and performance characteristics of all products.
- Assist customers in maximizing output of their Rotochopper equipment.
- Lead delivery, setup, and training for new machines at customer sites.
- Manage customer relationships to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
- Support customers with service and parts orders and troubleshooting machine issues over the phone.
- Follow all company safety policies while performing work assignments.

- Expert level of knowledge of all the features, benefits, and performance characteristics of Rotochopper product line.
- Possess excellent communication skills and strong negotiating skills.
- Electrical system, mechanical and drivetrain, hydraulic system and diesel engine diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-driven and work collaboratively with others.
- Exceptional organizational skills and must be very comfortable in a high-paced environment where multi-tasking is the norm.
- Must be respectful, and always keep a professional demeanor, capable of managing conflict.
- Must be a results-oriented individual with a clear focus getting the job done.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronic units.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required, and NetSuite preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, technical training or certifications preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 2-5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair, diagnostics, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting intermediate measurements, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Class A CDL preferred or the ability to obtain one, along with a DOT health card; clean driving record required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Field Services environment, including industrial environments as well as outside temperatures and all-weather conditions. May involve exposure to cold and hot temperatures, humidity, dust, fumes, vibration and other loud noises from the plant and customer locations in the field.
- Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climb. Employee is required to work at heights, in confined spaces, or on uneven terrain.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Travel extensively (75%) to customer sites for service and support.
