What are the responsibilities and job description for the Excavation Laborer position at Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain?
We are seeking skilled, reliable workers to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll assist with a variety of excavation and site preparation projects, operating tools and equipment while working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Responsibilities:

Operate and assist with equipment on excavation and descaling projects.

Prepare the work site each day by organizing materials, tools, and equipment.

Follow directions from supervisors and use equipment safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, wearing proper protective gear at all times.

Complete assigned work efficiently and on schedule, ensuring quality and accuracy.

Prepare new sites by digging, grading, moving dirt, or compacting soil as needed.

Assist contractors and team members on-site with various construction and repair tasks.

Clean up and remove debris, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift.

Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 80 pounds for extended periods.

Able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Good interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of management and coworkers.

Previous experience in construction, plumbing, excavation, or related field (preferred but not required).

Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and excavation equipment operation.

Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures, including trenching and confined space guidelines.

Reliable transportation to job sites and punctual attendance.

Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL a plus).
