Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital is a single-specialty surgical hospital in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Our hospital was developed by Rothman physicians to provide their patients high quality and patient-focused care. Our facility features 6 fully-equipped operating rooms and 24 in-patient rooms. We are equipped for joint replacements, orthopedic surgery, pain management and spine surgery, as well as sports medicine, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, and hand and wrist procedures. Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital offers patients a safe and comfortable environment to receive surgical care.

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinates the reception area activities to promote communication throughout the Facility. Performs clerical and reception duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Medical Clerical experience preferred.

· Two years' clerical experience preferred.

· Strong communication skills required.

· Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Admits patients to the Facility following the established policies and procedures.

· Reviews forms and obtains patient's signature. Verifies and updates account information in Meditech at time of check-in.

· Verifies with patient what procedure is being performed / what site and side / and surgeon.

· Checks patient ID bracelet to ensure information is for that patient.

· Ensures paperwork/charts are in order as requested by Clinical Staff and that patient flow to Pre-op is smooth.

· Collects patient responsibility at time of service. Obtains patient signature on promissory notes as needed.

· Provides pertinent information to the patient's family in the waiting area according to policies and procedures. Utilizes beepers.

· Monitors waiting area and checks with families to see if they have current updates, are comfortable, have any questions.

· Answers telephone and intercom courteously, and in a quiet, pleasant voice.

· Gives customer full attention. Provides directions to patients, families, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

· Maintains and protects each patient's right to confidentiality. Follows HIPAA regulations.

· Maintains coverage at front desk at all times.

· Assists in ordering and stocking supplies.

· Maintains order and cleanliness of the front desk.

· Participates in training/cross-training as directed.
