Grateful Patient Program Officer (Full-Time)
Position Reports to: Director of Individual Gifts & Donor Stewardship
Position’s Primary Function and its relationship to the Alliance Foundation as a whole:
The primary role of the Grateful Patient Program Officer is to maintain and grow the grateful patient fundraising program at the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. This individual will work closley with organizational, scientific and clinical leadership as well as gift officers and donors/prospects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expand the current grateful patient fundraising program and implement necessary grateful patient training sessions for Foundation staff, physicians, Board members, and Roswell leadership
- Partner with the manager of data analytics and the Prospect Research and Strategy team to identify qualified prospects through the analysis of grateful patient records and validation from AI/wealth screens
- Partner with gift officers to ensure that prospect research and grateful patient data is included into physician meetings and track number of referrals received by physicians as well as prospects identified through data analytics
- Review patient data loads from top prospects and assign to gift officers
- Assist in the creation of gift appeals; proactively share grateful patient gift pipeline and prospect engagement to enhance internal communication; develop and implement effective marketing and communication strategies focused on grateful patients and gratitude towards Roswell Park physicians working with internal colleagues (i.e., ways to thank physicians in clinics, National Doctor’s Day mailings)
- Ensure programming support from the Foundation is in compliance with HIPAA and grateful patient policies and procedures; ensure annual HIPAA compliance training is completed by the Individual Giving team
- Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 qualified prospects capable of making gifts at the $25,000 level in the next one to three years; successful experience as a grateful patient fundraiser is required for this position
- Ability to be self-directed and accountable for both establishing and meeting goals
- Participate in planning sessions with the Individual Gifts team to develop solicitation strategies and donor engagements
- Work with clinicians and researchers, and proposal writer to prepare written proposals and associated budgets for solicitation purposes
- Retain and record all pertinent information in the donor database Raiser’s Edge NXT
- Manage the Individual Gifts hospitality program
- Work independently, along with the Individual Gifts and broader development team
- Attend Roswell Park events as required
- Minimal travel required (not to exceed 10% travel, mostly within the state of NY)
- Hybrid work arrangement available
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree; advanced degree or certifications in philanthropy or nonprofit management are a plus
- Three to five years of experience of successfully identifying, cultivating and soliciting for major and principal gifts in a medical school or healthcare setting
- Grateful patient fundraising experience required
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with donor databases used for donor management and tracking; Raiser’s Edge, a plus
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
