Summary
This position provides direction and oversight to lifeguard staff in enforcing facility regulations, policies and procedures; escalation point for resident issues and questions; monitors activities in pool areas; schedules lifeguard staff; prepares and maintains records and reports as required. This is a Regular Full-Time position (40 hrs/wk) with full RWC benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises all lifeguards, scheduling, effectively provides staff leadership and work direction.
- Ensures Foundation policies and safety rules are followed; assists lifeguards as needed in maintaining discipline in pool areas; prepares reports of various types, maintains records as required including coordinating and reviewing incident reports, etc.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships. Welcomes residents and guests, answers questions about classes, schedules, policies, etc., pertaining to pools.
- Performs all duties of lifeguard including cleaning of pools, decks, equipment, recording chemical checks and pool temperatures. Additional duties include balancing or adding chemicals to pools as needed.
- Collaborate with Head Lifeguards to plan and deliver lifeguard staff training, in-services and skill checks ensuring that certification requirements are met. Collaborate with Fitness & Aquatic Manager and other recreation related coordinators in planning projects, programming and special events.
- Serve as first point of contact for lifeguards to refer community issues and concerns. Other duties as assigned, falling within the purview of the Fitness & Aquatic Manager.
Requirements:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- Current Certified Pool Operator certification are conditions of initial and on-going employment.
- Current American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, first aid and CPR are conditions of initial and on-going employment
- Current American Red Cross LGI certification are conditions of initial and on-going employment.
- Current American Red Cross LGIT Certification is highly desired.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service, time and priority management
- Demonstrated excellence in teamwork and collaboration
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
- Computer literacy in MS Office sufficient to meet record and reporting needs
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Head Lifeguard or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a lifeguard.
Additional Requirements:
§ Clean and valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment;
§ Ability to meet the Dept. of Homeland Security requirements confirming identity and right to work in the United States is required;
§ Offer is contingent upon satisfactorily passing a pre-employment background check and drug test;
§ Previous employment must be verifiable.
