Duties
- Safely operate a box truck to deliver appliances to residential and commercial locations, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Assist with loading, unloading, and manual handling of equipment such as dollies.
- Load and secure deliveries efficiently, ensuring proper weight distribution and safe lifting practices during transit and at delivery points
- Verify delivery addresses, obtain signatures when required, and ensure accurate documentation of all shipments
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with recipients, addressing questions professionally, and ensuring a positive delivery experience
- Follow route driving plans using mobile devices for navigation, adjusting as needed for traffic or other delays.
Skills
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of route planning and driving safety protocols
- Familiarity with operating box trucks or with manual transmissions
- Strong understanding of manual handling techniques, heavy lifting, and safe lifting practices in compliance with workplace weight handling standards
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to commercial truck driving and load securement procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in diverse situations
- Ability to operate mobile devices for navigation, delivery tracking, and communication purposes
- Experience in adhering to traffic laws, safety standards, and company policies during all aspects of delivery operations
