Position Overview:

This role involves production MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, a process commonly used in manufacturing environments for building metal components with speed, consistency, and durability. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting and producing clean, strong, and consistent welds.

Primary Responsibilities of a MIG Welder:

  • Set up and operate MIG welding equipment, including adjusting voltage, wire feed speed, and shielding gas flow
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
  • Weld metal components such as steel or aluminum using proper technique to meet production quality standards
  • Inspect welds visually and with measurement tools to ensure structural integrity and accuracy
  • Follow safety procedures, including PPE usage, equipment checks, and maintaining a clean work area
  • Maintain welding equipment and report any issues that affect performance or safety
  • Meet daily or weekly production quotas, depending on the project
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet manufacturing deadlines

Required & Preferred Skills:

  • At least 2 years of MIG welding experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform high-quality, uniform welds consistently
  • Strong understanding of weld quality standards, including penetration, bead appearance, and defect prevention
  • Experience with fabrication techniques, such as cutting, grinding, or fitting, is a plus
  • Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and strong teamwork ethic

Testing & Evaluation:

Candidates will complete both a written test (covering welding knowledge, safety, and terminology) and a hands-on weld test during the interview to assess skill level and determine starting pay.

Growth Structure:

  • On-site training for company-specific production methods
  • Performance reviews and structured raises at 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months
  • Starting wage is determined by weld test performance at the interview
