Ross Correctional Institution (RCI) is hiring Correction Officers to join our team in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Pay

• Starting pay: $24.88/hour
• Increase to $25.61/hour after 6 months of employment
• Earn an additional $0.60/hour when working 2nd or 3rd shift

What You’ll Do

As a Correction Officer, you will help maintain the safety and security of the institution, staff, incarcerated individuals, and the public.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervising and directing incarcerated individual activity
• Maintaining safety and security within assigned areas
• Conducting security rounds, counts, inspections, and searches
• Enforcing institutional rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Monitoring and operating security controls, equipment, and computers
• Completing required reports and documentation
• Preventing escapes and responding to incidents that threaten institutional security
• Operating vehicles for perimeter security and transportation when assigned
• Responding appropriately to emergency situations
• When necessary, using approved physical force, self-defense techniques, firearms, or other authorized force to maintain safety and security

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Must successfully complete the required Correction Officer assessment or have successfully completed the assessment within the previous 24 months
• Valid driver’s license required for positions involving transportation
• Must meet all Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction employment requirements
• 365-day probationary period
